چکیده

The intensity of a He–Ne laser ~633 nm, 5 mW! transmitted by different GaSe samples is observed to change in correlation with a Nd-yttrium–aluminum–garnet laser pulse ~532 nm, 7.8 ns, 3 mJ! which excites them. Such time response has been attributed to a nonlinear optical effect, i.e., a decrease in the refractive index due to the exciton screening by the photogenerated carriers. A calculation of the absorption coefficient and refractive index at different carrier concentrations has led to a reconstruction of transmittance transients which fully agree with the experimental data at different incident intensities and temperatures. © 1999 American Institute of Physics. @S0021-8979~99!05707-2#

A compact physical model for morphology induced intrinsic degradation of organic bulk heterojunction solar cell

The gradual loss of efficiency during field operation poses a fundamental challenge for economic viability of any solar cell technology. Well known examples include light-induced degradation in Si-based cell (Staebler-Wronski effect), Cu diffusion in thin film (copper indium gallium selenide) cell, hot-spot degradation in series connected modules, etc. Here we develop a compact model for an int...

Revealing the preferred interlayer orientations and stackings of two-dimensional bilayer gallium selenide crystals.

Characterizing and controlling the interlayer orientations and stacking orders of two-dimensional (2D) bilayer crystals and van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures is crucial to optimize their electrical and optoelectronic properties. The four polymorphs of layered gallium selenide (GaSe) crystals that result from different layer stackings provide an ideal platform to study the stacking configurat...

Investigation of Second- and Third-Harmonic Generation in Few-Layer Gallium Selenide by Multiphoton Microscopy

Gallium selenide (GaSe) is a layered semiconductor and a well-known nonlinear optical crystal. The discovery of graphene has created a new vast research field focusing on two-dimensional materials. We report on the nonlinear optical properties of few-layer GaSe using multiphoton microscopy. Both second- and third-harmonic generation from few-layer GaSe flakes were observed. Unexpectedly, even t...

Luminescence properties of mechanically nanoindented ZnSe

In this study, we used cathodoluminescence (CL) spectroscopy to examine the CL emissions of zinc selenide (ZnSe) single crystals that had been subjected to Berkovich nanoindentation. The CL spectra of the ZnSe exhibited both impurity emission peaks (1.8–2.4 eV band) and near-bandgap emission peaks (2.68 eV). Although CL emissions were generated during four unloading/reloading cycles, the decrea...
